Big choruses, ringing guitars and just enough rough edge to keep the sentiment honest. Dizzy Up the Girl is where Goo Goo Dolls brought their alternative rock roots into widescreen pop: Slide has the lift, Black Balloon has the ache, and Iris still earns its place at the centre of the record.
A good pick when you want a guitar album that gives you the hooks straight away, with quieter moments such as Acoustic #3 adding some breathing room.
Edition: LP.
